Background
Section 17 of the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Act 2022 requires Scottish Ministers to assess and report on the preparedness of education authorities to deliver remote learning in public schools. The purpose is to provide continued assurance to the public that if there was the need to provide wide-spread remote learning in the future, that the school system has done the necessary planning and has the infrastructure and staff resource in place to provide a consistently high-quality remote learning offer to all children and young people. The first report was published in May 2024. All 32 local authorities responded to this latest survey which was a 25% increase in completion rate.
