The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) and the Scottish Association of Teachers of Physical Education (SATPE) are calling on primary and secondary schools from across the country to bring football and Scottish country dancing together for a high-energy celebration designed to get children and young people dancing on the eve of Scotland’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
We want to send positive energy and support by encouraging schools across the country to host a day of celebration on Friday 12th June using our World Cup Day of Dance pack which includes dance instructions and music. Traditional dances have been renamed after some of the heroes who got us there like “Craig Gordons”, “Robertson Reel” and “McTominay Two Step”. There’s also a specially created dance – The World Cup Wheech – which was devised by SATPE and Penpont Primary School in Dumfries & Galloway!
